KEF T305 (T-305) T-Series 5.1ch Slim AV Surround Sound Speakers System

Many people are buying slimline TVs - and if you are looking for an AV speaker to go with it, what you want is basically also a slimline speaker.  Especially if you are wall-mounting your TV - you don’t want a large speaker sort of either side of your screen.

With this particular range you are looking at extremely slimline speakers - but there is no compromise to the sound.  In fact these speakers give you all the sound quality that you would expect from a more conventional speaker system but in a real slimline format.

The speakers themselves basically consist of five units like this - so you basically get four of the upright units and the same unit but in a horizontal format for your centre speaker; and the subwoofer which is here as well, which is a slimline subwoofer so it will also go tight against the wall.

The speakers themselves contain three drive units in each speaker.  You have got two 4.5 inch mid bass drivers, and also an air-vented tweeter.  The tweeter on this gives you extreme fine detail.  It is very good for vocals; it is also very good for any high frequencies, even when played at high levels.  In fact the speakers themselves will take up to 150 watts, so extremely high power handling.

They are rated at 8 ohms.  They vary from 80Hz to 30kHz - so they have got an extremely good frequency range on the speakers themselves.  The subwoofer will go down as low as 30Hz and up to 250Hz.  So a good frequency range on the sub and the main speakers.

The units themselves come with the desktop mount in the box.  They also come with a wall bracket so you can wall-mount them as well.  There are also floor stands available from Kef so you can floor-mount the speakers.

What I’ll do, I’ll give you a closer look at the subwoofer and the speakers. So here you have got the bottom view of the subwoofer.  So underneath the sub you have both basically Bass Boost which varies from between 0, 6 and 12 DB.  You have got the Phase Shift control on there as well, depending on where you have the subwoofers sited in the room.  You have got Power Auto or Manual control.  If you leave it on auto, when the power is switched on, when it is receiving a signal, it will basically switch on and off automatically as it is picking up the signal.  You have then just got your mains connection and your connection which is your phono plug to the amplifier.

So there you have now the side-on view of the sub - and as you can see it is only 7 inches wide, or 18 cm.  Now here we have the front view of the sub, of which you are looking at approximately 15 inches wide or 38 cm - and it is a forward-facing drive unit.  And you are also looking at 15 inches in height as well.  The subwoofer itself has a power output of up to 250 watts.

Let’s take a closer look at the main speakers themselves.  As I said, they contain three drive units: two 4.5 inch mid bass units and an air-vented tweeter.  The speakers themselves, just to give you some dimensions on here:  you are looking at the overall height of the speaker, if you want wall-mounting, at 60 cm or 23.5 inches on there, and a width of 6 inches or 15 cm.

The actual depth of the speaker - as I said, you can wall-mount them; if I spin this round here you can see the wall fixings just here and down at the bottom as well, so you can well-mount the speakers, or they do come with a desktop stand or, as I said, you can buy floor stands for them as well - the actual dept of the speaker itself: you are only looking there at around 4 cm in depth, so extremely slim.  As I said, they are one of the world’s slimmest high-performance speakers, but there is no compromise in the sound quality - they sound absolutely stunning.

The centre speaker itself, which is this one here, comes with a little bracket here and so you can have it sat on a shelf - but yet again you can wall-mount the centre speaker as well.
