Transcript of Video Review

Hello there, my name is Chris - Sales Manager for Sound and Vision in Bolton.  We are going to take you through a new range of TVs today from Sony.  There are three models in the range:  the KDL32EX401, the KDL37EX401 and the KDL40EX401.  So, three models there - 32, 37 and 40 inch screen size.  The specification on all three models is exactly the same.  The model we have here is the 37 inch version.

First of all, I will take you through the sockets on the rear of the TV.  On this particular range, we have three HDMI sockets on the rear, two scart sockets, PC input - so if you want to connect your laptop to it you have got a D sub-socket on the rear, you can do that.  You have also got Component, which is the red/green/blue connection - Xbox 360s and some DVDs use Component - you have got that on there as well.  You have also got an Optical Out, so if you want to feed the sound digitally from this TV to an external amplifier you have got Optical Out on the back of the TV.  And you have also got an Analogue Audio Out - so you can do it with the red and white feed to an external amplifier also.

On the side of the TV, you have another HDMI - so you have got four HDMIs in total.  You have got one USB, so if you want to plug a memory stick into the side of the TV, you can download photographs, music - whatever you have got stored on the memory stick - direct into the TV set.  You have also got a Composite Input socket on the side - things like Wii games consoles use Composite - you have got that socket as well.  And you have also got a headphone socket.

So, the actual specification of the TV:  We are looking at a range of sets here which are all full HD.  So there are three types of high definition - 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolution.  This particular range will cope with all three formats of high definition.  They have also got digital tuners built into them, so if you want to pick up all the digital channels there is no need for any external boxes - it is all built into the TV.  So, digital-ready and full HD-ready as well.

To take you through the menus on the TV - at the moment we have got a PC plugged into it with our website on there.  In fact the 32 inch version is displayed at the moment, which we are currently doing at £449.  We can also offer interest-free credit on all of these products as well, over a 12-month period, so as long as you settle it within 12 months there is no interest to pay.

On the set itself, if we go through the Menu system, we will just come off the PC menu and we will go onto TV, and that will put us into the digital tuner.  On here at the moment we have got just Channel 4 displayed there, and it takes you through the different digital channels - BBC2, and we come down to BBC1.  But as I said, it is a full digital tuner so it will go through all the digital channels as we go up through the scale as well - ITV2, BBC3, 4, ITV3, Sky 3 and so on. So a multitude of channels on digital, with around sixty-odd channels on the digital network service at the moment.

If we go through the Menu system on the Sony, on the remote control you have a button that says Home.  If you press the Home button it will put the Menu system up onscreen.  And we have got Left, Right, Up and Down on the remote.  If we just scroll over to the left, the Sony crossbar menu system will move over and we will come down to the Setting structure on the TV.  If we go into Picture - just press the centre button there - and it will give us adjustments.  First of all, Preset Modes - Standard or Vivid. If you put it into Vivid Mode, it just basically - it is altering the contrast, brightness and colour to a predetermined level.  If you go into Standard Mode, you have got options then to alter the backlight, contrast, brightness and colour.  You can just press the OK button in the centre and then go into each individual setting and adjust that to how you want that displayed yourself.  So you have got a full manual override on there.

You have also got things like noise reduction systems on the TV where if you are getting a particularly sort of grainy image on the TV with any noise in the image, you have got Noise Reduction High, Medium, Low or Off.  If you are getting a good signal, then generally the Off, if you use the settings of Medium or High, it can actually slightly diffuse the image and give you a softer image.  But it does get rid of a lot of that noise.  But if you are getting a good reception, normally I would say leave that off.

If we just go back to the Menu there, as we come down we have also got one or two advanced settings where you can boost the contrast higher on there as well, and we have also got adjustments for the actual saturation of the colour.

If we come out of that Menu and go into the Picture Frame Settings - as I said, you have got a memory stick facility, and you have got a USB on the side. If you actually send your photographs into the TV, you can also use it as a picture frame, displaying your photographs on here.  Once your image is on here, it will stay on for up to four hours if you just want to display it as a picture frame as well.

Plenty of facilities on this TV - probably too much to go through in this video clip at the moment.  What I would say, you know, if you want more details on this, please give me a call - my name is Chris.  You can get hold of me at the shop on 01204 861 861, or just phone our Leeds store on 0113 244 3030.  Or pop into one of those stores, and call in and have a look at the products - we have them generally on display, and obviously any of our staff can take you through a demonstration on those.

Or, search through our website, which is www.soundandvision.co.uk.  Or just click the link at the side of the screen if you want any more details.

Thank you.
