Panasonic’s 42 inch TX-L42ET50 represents another benchmark, full high def, full 3D, backlit LED TV from the performance end of their Smart VIERA range and constitutes a picture quality delivery generally seen only amongst high end plasma TVs.

With a TV screen framed by a new crystal effect surround, the deep black lustre of this 42 inch ET50B VIERA LED panel looks as if it is floating; this gorgeous visual design is augmented by the TV panel’s wide viewing angle capability (known as In Plane Switching, a technique that manipulates the backlit LED apertures) to accommodate 178 degrees across the viewing area with no loss of contrast and a panel driver (screen refresh) rate of 800 Hertz which maintains exceptional, natural image flow even during the fastest action scenes or hyperactive sports events where the camera pans rapidly left to right and back again (in which respect the 42ET50 is pound for pound, on a different level to any alternative LED TV currently on sale in the market.)

The ET50 is also the starting point within the Smart VIERA LED range to provide full fat, Full High Definition 3D by virtue of its adoption of the Active (shutter) Progressive system of 3D which has the main benefit of the TV not compromising on full 1080p image definition as the lenses open and close in synchronisation with the LED TV’s display since its employment of an active shutter glasses process (which operate both lenses individually in synch with the alternating left then right TV display) and the result is mesmerising and unlike lesser 3D TV sets, immersive: naturally, the 2D – 3D conversion option allows standard TV and (DVD) video to be viewed in a high calibre, pseudo 3D which is ideal for one off cultural or sporting events where the atmosphere may be significantly enhanced by recreating 3D.

Practically, this 42ET50B 3D HD television not only enhances the VIERA Media Player function thanks to an additional hard disk drive or USB device direct record facility – simply plug in and record whatever is on the screen - but continues with all the individual ‘App’ segments of the Panasonic VIERA Connect service, including the ability to convert your smart phone to use as the TV’s main remote handset, use its web browser, steam online video with favourites like You Tube, as well as interact via twitter, Face book and communicate via Skype (any of these whilst watching the TV simultaneously, if required) but also enhancing internet video downloads to a near DVD standard with Panasonic’s Web Smoother processor.

Arriving fully WiFi active, the TXL42ET50 is primed for instant connection to any domestic (DNLA) network (e.g. using compatible blu-ray hardware) so for the consumer seeking a truly outstanding example of Full HD, sleek designed LED that provides all the essential ingredients for smart TV convenience plus the finest in Full 3D, cinema class viewing, this HDTV recommends itself.

We have spent two decades watching this sector’s price trends and the bargains have never been stronger; best ever picture quality and new levels of connected convenience in a market stricken by frenzied competition – the Panasonic TX-L42ET50B is a class act and one we heartily commend – all that remains is to click the links above and revel in some of the UK’s lowest prices.
